DIVISION is looming in the Patriotic Front(PF) where some senior party members are allegedly engineering calls for the stepping down of party Secretary General Wynter Kabimba following his appointment as Justice Minister
Among the party members who have engineered calls for the resignation of Mr Kabimba as party Secretary General include few ministers whose names would soon be recommended to the Central Committee and president Michael Sata to be fired and expelled from the party.
F Copperbelt provincial Youth Chairman Menyani Zulu and Provincial Youth Secretary Kabwe Chanda confirmed the development yesterday in a joint press statement availed to the Daily Nation in Kitwe.
Mr Zulu said that the youths on the Copperbelt were aware that calls for the PF Secretary General were being engineered by some senior party members who have even instituted steps to incite students from both the Copperbelt University (CBU), National Institute for Public Administration(NIPA) and University of Zambia (UNZA) to protest.
Mr Zulu also warned the party members who have been identified to desist from their planned mission which has a negative effect on the welfare of the party.
“We are reliably informed that that among the members of the party who have engineered calls for the Secretary General to resign, are a few ministers whose names will be recommending to the central committee and his excellence President Michael Sata to be fired and expelled from the party.
“We are also challenging these ministers and members of the party to come out in the open before we blow their names to the President and the media and further agitate for their disciplinary,” Mr Zulu said
Mr Zulu also said it was highly immoral and immature for members of the ruling party to embark on a mission to incite instability in the party by challenging the presidential appointment.
He encouraged the party members allegedly funding students from NIPA, UNZA and CBU to consider supplementing funds to the party for the by-election in Mufumbwe, instead of fighting a losing battle.
“We also urge these members of parliament to realize that they have a duty to develop their respective constituencies because their illegal activity to inject confusion in the party is not inspiring.
“Our Secretary General has brought sanity in the party and as youths in the province, we strongly support his style of leadership which is progressive both in the party and national interest. It is for this reason that we urge patriotic members of the party to be on guard against disgruntled calls which are putting the unity and progress of the party at risk “he said.
