MP’s wife abducted, tied, dumped

Four heavily armed men on Saturday night abducted opposition UPND spokesperson Charles Kakoma’s wife and dumped her along Leopards Hill road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The brazen assailants waylaid her by the gate of their house in Ibex Hill as she drove in and ordered her out of the driving seat before tying her hands and blindfolding her before she was bundled into the back of the family Nissan vehicle she was driving.
As they drove away they demanded to know where her husband kept his gun and laptop and also wanted to know his whereabouts.
They then drove back to the house, locked the children into one bed room ransacked the house and stole a laptop, gun and eight suits and drove off with Mrs. Kakoma.
All this was happening while Mr. Kakoma was at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) where he had gone to visit a family member admitted there.
Mr. Kakoma said that he was the main target of the attack but that they ended up with bundling his wife as she was the one driving the vehicle alone.
Mr. Kakoma who is UPND Zambezi West lawmaker said that the incident was traumatic for the family.
He said that he was now living in constant fear of his life as he was a marked and wanted man by unknown agents, adding that the situation was traumatizing and shocking to his wife as she was still in disbelief over what had happened.
“I don’t know what they have done with her. They had to tie and blindfold her before they took off in our family vehicle. My wife is traumatized and right now she is just sleeping,” he said.
Mr. Kakoma said that it was shocking that the people that waylaid his wife decided to abandon his vehicle in state lodge.
He said that his life was in danger as it was clear that the attack on his wife was aimed at bringing Mr. Kakoma into surrendering, adding that thieves would have not abandoned his vehicle which had a full tank fuel.
“They only went away with my laptop and a gun. My life is in danger but this will not stop to fight for the freedoms of this country. This shall not stop us from defending democracy in this country from being raped by this government,” he said.
And police officers at Woodlands Police Station where the matter had been reported confirmed the development to the Daily Nation saying the matter was under investigation and that the police would patrol the area.
