UPND Mazabuka Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo says that his life is in grave danger.
Mr. NKombo who was assaulted by Western Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta and was later incarcerated then freed on a charge of murdering a PF cadre Harrison Chanda says his life is in danger and has subsequently informed the Patriotic Front leadership about the matter.
Mr Nkombo confirmed that his medical report detailing the injuries he suffered during the assault which disappeared from hospital had not yet been found.
He became aware of the plan to eliminate him through a tip off by some PF sympathizers last week on Saturday.
“Last week on Saturday between 18:30 and 19:00 hours I was informed about the plan to eliminate me by one friend who was having a meeting with them. I have informed some senior PF members about their plans and that if anything happened to me they should know who to point at,” he said.
He said that he was not intimidated by the attempt on his life as his greatest enemy was defeat, adding that his current predicament was also made known to the National Assembly before parliament adjourned sine die last month.
“If they are looking for my life, they will definitely find it. I will not be there to see how I will lose it because I would have already been eliminated. But I have to make one point clear I am not a coward and I am not scared. I have always said that between death and defeat I fear defeat rather than death,” he said.
Mr. Nkombo said that he had decided to speak out because he did not believe in shadow boxing but in open debate.
Mr. Nkombo said that the continuous assertions by the PF that he participated or killed Harrison Chanda were the reason for the plan for his elimination.
Mr. Nkombo who was the UPND campaign manager in the March 14 2013 Livingstone Central by-elections when he had a physical confrontation with Western province minister Obvious Mwaliteta at the police station where he sustained a broken arm.
Police in Livingstone arrested the MP on a non-bondable murder charge and was detained for a length period as his case could only be heard under the High Court which case was later dropped following the arrest of a suspected murderer .
