Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito is today (Friday) expected to appear before the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) Legal Practitioners’ Committee on a professional misconduct charge.
The second summoning of the DPP follows a complaint raised with LAZ by MMD Solwezi Central Member of Parliament Lucky Mulusa who complained to the association that Mr Nchito had lied to the parliamentary select committee when he was being screened for his current job by the parliamentary select committee.
According to the latest summons dated 30th May 2013, LAZ has changed venue from Lusaka to Ndola City Council Chamber where he is expected to appear before a five man committee.
On May 24 Mr Nchito failed to appear before the committee for unexplained reasons and did not even communicate or send an apology for his absence when LAZ summoned him.
“You will be appearing before the Legal Practitioners Committee of the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) until the matter is determined and the committee may proceed to determine the matter in your absence,” the letter signed by Silas Mambwe read in part.
