‘Those responsible for the Zambeef hox must be identified and be prosecuted for the harm and panick they have caused to the nation.’
And Agenda for Better Zambia President Frank Bwalya has said that Government could be involved in scandalizing and blackmailing Zambeef, the country’s single largest supplier of beef and beef products.Fr Bwalya has cautioned that it was economically dangerous to have a government that was suspected of blackmailing companies and investors because the resultant effect was that the lives of the citizens would be affected.
He said while ABZ did not want to rely on information that may be inaccurate over the Zambeef meat saga, it was important that government should conduct fair and thorough investigations into the matter.
“As Agenda for a Better Zambia, we feel government is actually involved and we hope that the issue will be handled in such a manner that the truth will protect both the company and the lives of the people,
“There are those who are accusing Zambeef of unethical business conduct and there are those that feel the company is being blackmailed. So until we have evidence, we do not want to thrive or peddle falsehoods,” Fr Bwalya said.
Meanwhile, Zambeef has withdrawn all its imported beef products from its outlets countrywide to allow government thoroughly investigate the matter.
According to a statement made available to the Daily Nation, Zambeef Chief Executive Officer Francis Grogan said that his company had decided to withdraw all its imported products for the purpose of investigations.
