Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general Wynter Kabimba is fooling President Michael Sata by claiming that the ruling party is vibrant and strong, says Alliance for a Better Zambia (ABZ) leader Frank Bwalya.
Fr Bwalya said the PF secretary general was fooling President Sata in the same way the Head of State fooled late former President Frederick Chiluba over the third term bid.
“Mr Kabimba has adopted the strategy Mr Sata used in eliminating credible contenders for the MMD presidency in 2001 when he campaigned for the third term bid even when he knew it was an unpopular undertaking,” said Fr Bwalya.
He said the bottom line was that Mr Kabimba knew that the PF was no longer what it was in 2011 and that if Mr Sata wanted his secretary general to continue fooling him, he had the right to take the dangerous path.
“Otherwise, we advise Mr Sata to wake up from his slumber and realize that the party has become unpopular because of his own mediocre leadership and unconstitutional conduct,” Fr Bwalya said.
Fr Bwalya said when Mr Sata was fooling Dr Chiluba about the third term drive that it was popular and that it was going to succeed, he knew that the people were opposed to it but went ahead to use the bid to eliminate credible and senior members of MMD.
He said that by the time Dr Chiluba realized that Mr Sata was fooling him (Dr Chiluba), many senior members of the former ruling party had been hounded out and had formed other political parties
Fr Bwalya said Mr Kabimba has undertaken a scheme of fooling President Sata so that he could project himself as the most loyal and hardworking senior member of the ruling party.
“ Mr Kabimba is fully aware that the PF political fortunes are dwindling every single day because of many factors such as the unfulfilled promises but has chosen to mislead President Sata about the false popularity of the ruling party,” said Fr Bwalya.
He explained that one of the most important factors that had made the PF unpopular was that the people, particularly the youths who massively voted for the ruling party but have gotten nothing from the ruling party.
The ABZ leader said Mr Kabimba was going to use the confidence President Sata has in him to eliminate all presidential hopefuls from the PF presidential race in 2016.
Fr Bwalya said what the PF members should be seeing in the coming days will be sidelining people while those serving in government as ministers will be frustrated by the useless reshuffles and transfers.
