Zesco seek to extend lead

MTN/FAZ league leaders Zesco United have a chance again today to extend their lead at the summit of the table if they beat Power Dynamos away at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe in a Week 20 fixture.

Coach Tenant Chembo’s side lead the log on 37 points, two better than second placed Nkana who will be in action tomorrow against Konkola Mine Police in Chililabombwe.

Nkana failed to reclaim the top slot in a midweek fixture losing 1-0 to red Arrows at Nkoloma stadium in Lusaka on Wednesday.

Zesco, who last week beat Napsa Stars 2-0 away at Woodlands Stadium have had inconsistence as their number one enemy but will hope to win to keep their momentum.

The Ndola side has partly been affected by injuries to some key players like Winstone Kalengo, Lottie Phiri and Mwape Mwelwa.

But the void has not been difficult to fill with El Merreikh flop Jackson Mwanza and Alfred Luputa teaming upfront to keep the electricity boys’ title ambitions alive.

Chembo knows defeat at troubled Power Dynamos will dent their title chase.

Power Dynamos are still looking for their second win under ex-international Tenant Chilumba whose five weeks in charge have been laden by lacklustre performances.

The Kitwe side has looked clueless upfront where neither Graven Chitalu nor Nasha Kaya have been able to rack up goals.Chilumba who has an array of exciting midfielders in youngsters, Lubambo Musonda, Julius Situmbeko and the now fading Simon Bwalya.  But for all the promise in talent at his disposal Chilumba has failed to master a winning formula and today the heat will be on as the ‘Dinamo’ faithful could let their feelings known should the result not go in their favour.Power Dynamos is on 11th place on the table with 21 points after 18 games.
