The University of Zambia (UNZA) Patriotic Front think tank committee has rubbished claims by Minister of Justice Wynter Kabimba that he was the architect in the formulation of the ruling party’s manifesto.
The UNZA lecturers PF think tank committee has charged that Kabimba should stop claiming that he was the brain behind the formation of the PF constitution because those who spent sleepless nights were still around.
The committee said Kabimba should stop claiming credit for drafting the PF manifesto because the document was authored by a number of prominent UNZA lecturers in 2004, long before the Justice Minister had joined the ruling party.
Kabimba who is the Justice Minister was reported as having claimed that he was the architect of the PF manifesto.
They said the names of the think tank committee that participated in drafting the PF manifesto were published in the Post Newspaper of February 19th 2006 and that Kabimba’s name was not among them.
The committee said the original copy of the PF manifesto was still at the University of Zambia campus.
The UNZA PF think tank committee said they were disappointed that Kabimba was claiming that he had spent sleeplessness nights to come up with the PF manifesto.
The said the think tank committee was headed by Dr N Simbyakula, who was the chairman at the time.
Other people who participated in the drafting of the PF manifesto were DR A.C.S Mushinge, Dr M Lemba, Dr J.T Phiri, Dr C. Mulenga, Dr C. Chabatama and Dr P. Chisale.
Others were Mr F. Siame, Mr T.M Mabwe, Mr S. Kapempe, Mr J. Chisenga, Mr J. Kazembe (deceased) and Mr C. Nkhoshya. The committee had also included Reverend B. Chonde and two students from the university.The UNZA lecturers said Dr Kavwanga Yambayamba had contributed immensely in the formation of the agriculture policy while Rolf Shenton was the man behind the formation of the policy on environment.“It is disappointing for Wynter Kabimba to claim that he spent sleepless nights to come up with the PF manifesto. The secretary should stop claiming credit for drafting the PF manifesto because the document was authored by the UNZA PF think tank committee in 2004. The names of the PF think tank that authored the PF manifesto were published in the Post Newspaper of February 19th, 2006.
