Chembe Nyangu will now act as national secretary for the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) until a substantive appointment is made in the next 21 days.
This was decided by the NEC which met in Lusaka at the weekend to discuss administrative and management issues of the former ruling party.
Until now, Senga Hill M.P. Kapembwa Simbao had been serving as national secretary following the expulsion of Major Richard Kahingwe.
NEC sources have told the Daily Nation that members were concerned by a number administrative issues following the poor performance of the party and wanted administrative systems revamped to take account of the change of the political dynamics in the country.
The source revealed that Simbao had earlier stepped down and efforts were being made to find a suitable replacement to deal with party mobilization and formation in view of the forth coming challenges including the 2016 general elections.
