Opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has warned criminals that have taken over institutions of governance under the Patriotic Front regime to use their time to reflect and change for the better.
In an interview, Hichilema said that criminals have secured control of sensitive departments of government and that it was for this reason that there was too much anarchy in the nation.
“Just look at how the people of Mambwe were treated by police, the act was criminal and it is only criminals who can act in such away. Our people in Mambwe were peaceful, they just gathered to wait for my coming and it was strange that PF thugs in police uniform brutalised our people in Mambwe,” said Hichilema.
He warned that PF cadres in police uniform would soon pay for their action when President Michael Sata loses power in 2016.
“There are too many illegalities Police Inspector General Stella Libongani is promoting in the police and she will one day pay for this. She should not think that Sata will be there forever. It is only one day when she will account for her illegalities. She cannot order police, thugs, criminals to beat people who peacefully gathered at a meeting,” he said.
Hichilema said that it was hurting to see police implementing the Public Order Act in a selective manner, adding that all those promoting violence and anarchy in the country their day is coming soon and police leadership was just one of them.
He warned that no amount of beatings, arrests and intimidation would deter him from visiting and meeting Zambians all over the country.
“Let them arrest me if they want, I will not stop visiting and meeting our members. We shall tell them that the PF is a brutal regime and don’t vote for them in 2016. We shall tell them that the PF has introduced poverty, we shall tell them that the PF was comfortable to have sick people rather than health ones that is why they fired nurses in hospitals. We shall tell them that the PF want malnourished people that are why they removed subsidy from maize and fuel,” said Hichilema.
Hichilema said that it was not the UPND to dent the PF’s image but that the party leadership was already self mess.
He said that the PF should realise that it was not the UPND which promised the constitution in 90 days, adding that the 90 days promises were critically haunting President Sata and his party.
‘That is why these guys are brutal, they want to kill us for reminding them to deliver inputs on time, they want to kill us for reminding them that there are no doctors and nurses in hospitals, they want to kill us for reminding them that people want the constitution. This is a brutal regime which should not be left to do things this way,” he said.
Hichilema said that he was ready for the PF and its brutal police and if it would need his life to save Zambia from brutality and dictatorship, then he would be glad to sacrifice himself to save many Zambians from the bad leadership of the PF.
