Kaingu Chituwo stripped of MMD vice-presidency

The MMD national executive committee (NEC) has with immediately effect stripped off Dr Michael Kaingu, Dr. Brian Chituwo the position of party vice-presidents for politics and administration respectively.

But Dr Kaingu and Ms Siliya have said their stripping of their positions would not resolve the problems the party was currently facing.

The party’s NEC has also stripped off Dora Siliya as party spokesperson, while Lucky Mulusa’s appointment as NEC member has also been withdrawn. The national executive committee has also stripped Tobias Kafumukache of his position as party national youth secretary.

But NEC in the spirit of harmony and creating unity in the party resolved to only strip them of positions so that they could remain ordinary members. Presenting the report, party national secretary Muhabi Lungu informed the NEC members that Dr. Kaingu, Dr. Chituwo, Mr Mulusa and Mr. Kafumukache failed to exculpate themselves and the ultimatum given to them had elapsed. NEC said that the aforementioned individuals had exhibited high levels of indiscipline therefore the best decision the party could have taken against them was to strip them of their positions instead of expelling them and put on observation for not less than six months to reform.  But Ms. Siliya said that stripping them of position would not help the former ruling party to recover from leadership cancer.

“The party under Nevers will not win the MMD any election because he is a bad leader. Even some of the members, MPs whom I spoke to yesterday indicated to me that Nevers is taking the party nowhere and actually they want RB back,” said Ms. Siliya. And Dr. Kaingu said that he would meet the membership before announcing the way forward because the MMD under the current NEC had no future.
