A witness yesterday told Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate Joshua Banda that he did not witness the beating up of former MMD national secretary Richard Kachingwe and two others.
Mr Bangwe Navile, a Journalist at the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC), told Magistrate Banda that on December 1, 2012 he was assigned to cover the MMD press briefing at the Lusaka MMD Secretariat.
He said when he arrived at the venue, he found MMD youths outside the premises and he recognised one of them as Mr. Bowman Lusambo, self claimed MMD Die-hard whom he later interviewed over some activities which were taking place at the Secretariat.
Mr. Navile said Mr. Lusambo told him that the youths were not happy with Major Kachingwe’s attitude at the party’s head office and they wanted him out of office.
Later, he saw some youths enter Major Kachingwe’s office whom they dragged out and pushed out of the premises to the main road.
He said he did not see any one lay a hand on Major Kachingwe, Mr Gregory Chifire and former MMD national youth chairperson, Tobias Kamfumukache.
Mr Navile said after the assignment, he went to his office to write the story and handed over the tape to the librarian.
This is in a case in which four MMD supporters are accused of assaulting Major Kachingwe, Mr Chifire and Mr Kamfumukache on December 1, 2012
