Senior Chief Mwata Kazembe advised politicians to maintain a warm and friendly approach to politics.
Speaking when he met MMD president Nevers Mumba the Mwata said being a leader required an accommodating heart which allowed room for both members of his party as well as non-members.
He was speaking on Saturday when he received Dr Mumba who paid a courtesy call on the Mwata.
The Mwata advised politicians to desist from engaging in petty politics of name calling and insults as doing so would only damage his good name and that such politics would not take Zambia anywhere.
Dr Mumba later joined hundreds of people at the main arena for this year’s Umutomboko celebrations where he presented the Mwata with a gift on behalf of his party.
He described his meeting with Senior Chief Mwata Kazembe as cordial and productive.
Dr. Mumba said the meeting was successful and that their discussion centered on important national issues obtaining in Zambia.
And Dr Mumba has said a nation without culture was like a headless person.
Dr Mumba has since urged Zambians to jealously guard the rich culture and traditions that the country was endowed with.
He called on parents in the country to educate their children about their culture and teach them the traditional values and norms.
Dr. Mumba said the MMD respected traditional leadership and appreciated the important role it played in the governance of a nation as could be noted from the good relationship the former ruling party had with traditional leaders across the country.
