THERE is need for the Grand Coalition on the constitution to broaden its agenda from pushing for the enactment of the constitution to liberating the country from “jaws” of the PF government, says the Gallant Youth of Zambia executive director Henry Mulenga.
Mr Mulenga said the denial by government to give Zambians a people-driven constitution was an attempt to destroy the very fabrics of democracy.
He said it was prudent for the people of Zambia to support the Grand Coalition which was spearheading the enactment of the constitution to benefit the citizens.
Mr Mulenga said government must not be aggressive whenever Zambians wanted to know something about the constitution.
He said that if there was no constitution crisis in Zambia why did the government waste a lot of money by appointing the technical team to draft the national document.
Mr Mulenga said the Zambians must be rescued from the auto pilot type of governance which appeared to be unconcerned about the welfare of the people.
He challenged the government to avail with concrete state of the President who was the custodian of national matters to get rid of the rumours.
“As far as I am concerned, the PF has failed the people of Zambia but the problem is that they don’t want to admit,” he said. Mr Mulenga said that the people of Zambia needed the Constitution, which he said was the key to all the challenges facing the nation.
He said that government should not criticize innocent citizens on the constitution, but instead should be clear on what was expected as with regards to the release of the constitution.
