PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Luanshya constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Steve Chungu has been suspended from all party activities for alleged insubordination.
Chungu, who is also Luanshya district PF chairperson, has been suspended from all party activities for instructing the district and constituency leadership in the area not to attend the provincial meeting which was held in Kitwe on Friday, last week at Kitwe Little Theatre. Copperbelt provincial PF secretary Amos Chisenga confirmed the suspension of Mr Chungu in an interview yesterday and warned that those who were still in the camp of former secretary general Wynter Kabimba risk facing the boot from the party..
“I can confirm that, as a provincial executive committee, we have suspended Luanshya district PF chairperson Steven Chungu for insubordination. He is believed to have instructed the district executive committee and constituency executive committees not to attend last week’s meeting on Friday at Kitwe Little theatre.
“He instructed the two constituency executives, Roan and Luanshya not to attend the meeting butRoan constituency defied his directive,” Mr Chisenga said. Mr Chisenga said Mr Chungu has been given seven days in which to exculpate himself. But, when contacted, Mr Chungu said he had no comment on the matter because he had just arrived from South Africa.
