POLICE on the Copperbelt has revoked National Restoration Party (NAREP) president Elias Chipimo’s permit to hold a political rally in Chingola.
And yesterday, the Ministry of Health ordered Chelstone clinic management to stop Mr Chipimo from commissioning the construction of toilets by his party.
Mr Chipimo was yesterday scheduled to commission the construction of toilets at Chelstone clinic and hold a rally on September 27, 2014 in Chingola.
NAREP Copperbelt provincial secretary Chipoka Mulenga explained that he received a call from Chingola Central police superintendent, a Mr Njobvu that the rally had been cancelled because the proposed venue had been given to the Seventh Day Adventist church to conduct a church programme for a week.
“And today when we asked them, the superintendent said he was not aware that the same venue had been given to SDA Church until September 28, 2014. Superintendent Njobvu said there was nothing he could do because the church conference had already started,” he said.
And NAREP assistant for administration, David Kapoma confirmed that Mr Chipimo’s programme at Chelstone clinic was cancelled for unknown reason.
“When we reached the clinic, the sister in charge told us that her job would be at risk if NAREP president went ahead with the programme,” he said.
Mr Kapoma said his party had no option but to cancel the programme after being turned down by management and the Ministry of Health.
