GOVERNMENT has started delivering farming inputs under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) in Luano District.
Luano District Agricultural Coordinator (DACO), Peter Kabichi, confirmed to National Agriculture Information Services (NAIS) that 6,054 x 10kg bags of maize seed has since been delivered to the district.
Mr Kabichi also confirmed that the district is expecting to receive a total of 8,874 x 10kg of seed before the end of the month.
The DACO also told NAIS that the district has not yet started receiving the fertilizer consignment, but he was optimistic that the consignment will start arriving by early next week. Meanwhile, Ministry of Agriculture members of staff have been directed to handle the distribution of the FISP inputs to the intended beneficiaries with transparency.
Addressing agriculture extension officers after the Conservation Agriculture Scaling Up (CASU) workshop in Luano, Senior Agricultural Officer (SAO), Roy Kalipenta, urged the officers to remain professional in handling the FISP so that the integrity of the Ministry Of Agriculture and Livestock is maintained.
