FOOTBALL Association of Zambia president Kulusha Bwalya has congratulated Zesco United for scooping the 2014 MTN/FAZ super league title over the weekend.
Kalu said the 2014 super league was very competitive following the tight race amongst the top three clubs which included Power Dynamos and Zanaco FC.
He has since urged Zesco United to prepare for the challenge ahead of them in the 2015 CAF Confederations Cup.
Kalu said the club should prepare itself adequately for the more competitive continental games.
He told Daily Nation that the league which had 16 teams was competitive and FAZ was hopeful that football in Zambia had improved tremendously.
“The most important thing for us is that the league was competitive. Zesco grabbed it from the previous champions Nkana FC,” he said.
Kalu said unlike Nkana, he would like to see Zesco United compete favourably during the continental games.
He applauded Zesco coach George Lwandamina for scooping the title for the Kitwe-based side.
“Our honour goes to the technical bench and the coach for working extra hard to win this year’s title,” he said.
Kalu also congratulated the Football House for managing a successful MTN/FAZ 2014 super league calendar.
Meanwhile, Zesco United will this weekend face Nkana in the final round of the 2014 Barclays Cup in Ndola.
Nkana beat Konkola Blades in the semi-finals at Arthur Davies Stadium to reach their debut Barclays Cup final.
And Zesco United beat Napsa Stars 1-0 at the same venue in Kitwe to reach the 2014 Barclays Cup final.
