TP Mazembe midfielder Given Singuluma says he wants to play in Europe after representing the Chipolopolo national team at the 2015 AfCON finals billed for Equatorial Guinea next month.
Singuluma, who was responding to questions from journalists yesterday immediately after the morning training session at the National Heroes Stadium, said although he still had a contract with the DR Congo-based side, he would like to be approached by European clubs after the AfCON tournament.
“At the moment I have a contract with TP Mazembe so I will have to wait until AfCON ends and I hope I will be approached by European clubs,” he said.
Singuluma expressed confidence that he would be among the final list of players which coach Honor Janza would pick for AfCON.
“I am confident that I will be picked among the final list which will go to Equatorial Guinea. Since I came back I have made a difference in the style of playing football,” he said.
Singuluma said the Chipolopolo Boys would put in their best, adding that AfCON was a big tournament which required hard work.
Singuluma, 28, made his AfCON debut during the 2010 Angola AfCON tournament.
And Janza has promised to pick the final list on merit today when he unveils the provisional squad which will travel to South Africa on December 27, 2014.
He said he will pick a team based on those players with the capacity to deliver.
“We shall pick players based on those who have goodwill and ability to give the country the best. We shall not look at the age but the capacity to deliver during AfCON,” he said.
Janza said his target during AfCON would be to come back home with the Cup.
“Our aim would be to come out the best two in our group and proceed to the semi-finals and possibly play the final,” he said.
