Transforming nations into Christ’s likeness is our motto.
Dear Jesus I pray that not one person reading this article shall remain the same way they were before.
I pray that dear Jesus you speak to our hearts. We are so hungry for the word and I pray that not one person shall see Jasper but that they shall hear the word from you and understand through the help of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name I ask all these Amen.
Let me say it again ; Jesus won’t share you with another lover. That analogy may seem a bit crude or overstated, but it’s biblically consistent in describing how God feels about our divided affection.
The prophet Ezekiel described what it was like for God when we share our affection, attention, and allegiance with anyone or anything else. It is like we are having an affair. In Ezekiel Chapter 16 :37 here is what God says to his people who have been worshiping false gods:
‘‘Therefore behold, I will gather all your lovers with whom you have taken pleasure, and all those whom you have loved with all those whom you have hated; I will even gather them [the allies you have courted] against you on every side and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness [making you, Israel, an object of loathing and of mockery, a spectacle among the nations].
Following Jesus means following Him alone. Most people who claim to be Christians don’t want to put Jesus on the Centre of their hearts. Instead they keep other things on the Centre of their hearts and put Jesus in the fourth place. But Jesus makes it clear to anyone that He is not interested in sharing your heart.
Some of you have experienced the pain of unfaithfulness. You found out that the person who vowed his or her life to you has been sleeping with someone else. If you have experienced those wounds of betrayal then you know it’s hard to imagine a worse feeling. And when God is one of many, instead of our one and only, that’s how He portrays Himself-as a betrayed lover.
So in Luke 14 Jesus defines the relationship by making it clear that if we follow him, we follow him alone. He won’t share us-not with money, not with a career, not even with your family. Maybe you read a passage like this and seem that God is being a little possessive and jealousy. But dear beloved understand this- when Jesus explains that he will not share your affection or devotion, he isn’t just saying how he wants to be loved by you; he is making it clear how he loves you.
Imagine it this way. Let’s just imagine that this week you walk into a restaurant and you see me sitting at a table having candlelit dinner with a woman who is not my wife. You come up and confront me, “who is this woman and what are you doing jasper?”
I then respond to you, “Don’t worry about it.
I am on date with this beautiful Ngoni woman tonight, but my wife knows that she always comes first.”
You walk away angry and disgusted, you decide that someone needs to tell my wife and so you call and share the news.
When I come home from my date , what do you think her response will be? Imagine my wife meets me at the door and says, “Hi honey, did you have a nice time on your date?” then she comes over and gives me a kiss and says, “I don’t mind you seeing other people as long as I am most important to you.”
I grantee you that would never happen! As soon as I walked in the door from the date I would fear for my life. If my wife heard about me eating with a woman then we light candles for dinner I would be in trouble.
Why ? Because she loves me. Her refusal to share my affection doesn’t indicate her as insecure and possessive; instead it proves her to be devoted and loving.
And Jesus makes it clear: if you follow him, he is to be your one and only. You are so committed to him that by comparison , you put other priorities in the second place. Jesus makes it clear in Luke chapter 14 verses 28 – 30.
‘‘For which of you, wishing to build a [h]farm building, does not first sit down and calculate the cost [to see] whether he has sufficient means to finish it?
Otherwise, when he has laid the foundation and is unable to complete the building], all who see it will begin to mock and jeer at him,
Saying, This man began to build and was not able ([i]worth enough) to finish.’’
Jesus makes no apologies for his strong words. He wants people to be clear about what they are singing on for.
You cannot be singing for Jesus at the same time you go to consult diviners . you cannot be praying to
Jesus at the same time you are worshipping other idols. People are searching for power from wrong places, they are searching for security from some strange gods rather than the God of the Bible.
All these things makes God not happy, as a Nation that calls upon the God of the Bible we need to repent on behalf of our beloved Zambia.
That any foundations contrary to the Biblical foundation should be uprooted in the Name of Jesus! Any idols taking the place of God should be uprooted from the hearts of our people.
So dear beloved, what is it that makes you put Jesus in a third or second place?
Or you may say , I have not even taken a step to be a Christian, well make a decision today. i know you may say no me am guilty yes, but my brother , my sister Jesus’ words are full of grace. He says, “follow me.’”You think. “there must be a mistake. Doesn’t he know who I am?
Doesn’t he know what I’ve done? “yeah, he knows about the stains.
In fact, he died on the cross so that our stains could be washed clean, whiter than snow actually. And because of his grace, we find ourselves at the same crossroads as every sinner.
Reika Horio once said .“TIME IS MONEY.” This is one of proverbs which we have in Japan. Since time is as valuable as money, we should not be wasted. As I spend time in Zambia, I have noticed the idea towards time is different between Zambians and Japanese.
Before I came to Zambia, I often heard there is “African Time” which is not on time. When I actually experienced it, I am surprised that how African time works in Zambia. For instance, if I make an appointment at 10:00 which means we are not definitely going to meet on time. We are going to meet at least 30 minutes or even an hour later from that time. Since this has never happened in Japan, I am stunned. In Japanese culture, people come not only on time, but even come five or ten minutes earlier than the time we have decided to.
This is one of our showing respects to others, and also make people have good impression to you.
As I live in Zambia, I am having hard time which culture I should follow as Japanese who works in Zambia. I should not push my culture to Zambians, but at the same time, I feel necessity to others understand my background in order to work together.
Therefore, both Zambians and Japanese should understand other culture, and draw a line where we are both agreeable. This is what I learned from the life in Zambia.
Remember the Bible teaches also on the importance of Time, this is the only time you may have to make a decision or it may be too late.
These words of Jesus are words of an invitation, not a command. Jesus begins the invitation to come after him with the word “if.” That indicates that there is a choice in the matter.
One of the most basic truth about love is that it can’t be forced. This is the only time you have to make up your mind to follow only Jesus.
Your parents decided to have you baptized as a baby, but you need to decide now and personally come after Jesus.
Pursuing Jesus is your choice and Jesus wants to make it clear what you’re agreeing to if you respond to his invitation.
He will settle for nothing less than to be the great love and pursuit of your life. Kindly ask Jesus to come into your heart and He will do just that.
Remember, never question God’s great love, for it is as unchangeable a part of God as is His holiness. No matter how black your sins, God loves you.
Your finite mind is not capable of dealing with anything as great as the love of God. Your mind has difficulty explaining how a black cow can eat green and give white milkbut you drink the milk and are nourished by it .
You have to receive God by faith,by faith in His son, the Lord Jesus Christ and when that happens, there isn’t room for doubt.
