ZESCO Limited says compensation for the 20-year old boy who was electrocuted after he came into contact with a live 11 KV high voltage cable last week will only be made after engaging the bereaved family and the legal department of the company.
ZESCO spokesperson Henry Kapata has told Millennium Radio News that no compensation has been made although the company did make a contribution towards the young man’s funeral.
“We want to clarify that no compensation has been made though a contribution was made towards the funeral arrangements,’’he said.
Mr Kapata said the power utility firm would soon engage the family of the deceased concerning compensation as currently investigations into circumstances leading to the electrocution had reached an advanced stage.
“We want to assure members of the public that ZESCO will soon engage the family of the deceased concerning compensation as currently investigations on circumstances leading to the electrocution has reached an advanced stage,” said Mr Kapata.
