N/West television station construction on course

The contractor building the K11, 000,000 provincial radio and Television Station in Northwestern Province says the project is on course.

Speaking yesterday during an inspection of the project by officials from the Ministry of Finance and acting Solwezi district Commissioner Chipao Chipoa, Astor investment director Wang Xin said the project is progressing well.

The contractor who is currently clearing and preparing the land in readiness for construction said the project would advance to the main structure in the course of 18 months.

“We want to assure the people of Solwezi and North-Western Province at large that we are committed to ensuring that the project is completed on time,” Xin said. Speaking at the same event building department senior architect Isaiah Lungu said the Ministry of Finance was pleased with the commitment shown by the contractor.

“We are pleased with the commitment exhibited by Astor investments, however they should ensure that quality material is used during the construction”, he said.

Mr Lungu added that the contractor should ensure that safety measures were put in place to minimize injuries and accidents. Meanwhile , Mr Chipoa has praised Government for fulfilling its promise of constructing a provincial radio and television station in NorthWestern Province. He said Government ws eager to create more jobs for the people of North-Western Province during construction and when the station was fully operational. Mr Chipawo said the construction of the broadcasting station would  better the lives of the Zambian people. The project which was launched in 2012 in Solwezi is aimed at enhancing access to information for all Zambians and highlighting key issues affecting the Zambian people.
