Councillors selling land warned

The Patriotic Front on the Copperbelt has warned councillors allegedly involving themselves in the illegal sale of land to stop putting the name of the party into disrepute.

PF Mufulira district youth chairperson Brian Mulilo said the party should not tolerate civic leaders who wanted to dent the image of the people at the expense of the party’s determination to serve the Zambian people.

Mr Mulilo accused some councillors who were engaging themselves in land issues to stop it before the law visited them.

He said it was a shame that civic leaders were the ones who were believed to have been engaging themselves in such activities instead of controlling the situation.

Mr Mulilo said the PF on the Copperbelt would not tolerate councilors involved in illegal land allocation because they were bringing the image of the party down.

“We will continue to defend the ruling party and we are the people’s party and therefore we will not allow such activities to happen if our members, especially councillors are involved in such activities to dent the image of the party,” he said.

Mr Mulilo’s comments follow complaints that some councillors in Mufulira district were promising people plots.

He said PF councillors involved in illegal land allocation must face the law like any other citizen, because the PF Government was a listening Government that wanted to see all its citizens benefiting.

“I want to seriously warn the PF councillors involved in the vice that as youths, we shall not spare such councilors as they are denting the image of the party,” Mr Mulilo said.

Mr Mulilo said there was need to bring sanity to the council, adding that they were the some individuals who were denting the image of the PF Government so that the fight against corruption was not realized.
