I write to express my disbelief at UPND vice president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM)’s claims that he was not a violent man and he did not spearhead violence during his tours of Northern Province. As a former PF Kasama Central member of parliament he’s tasked to re-contest the parliamentary seat which was declared vacant by the Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini on the UPND ticket (Daily Nation, December 5, 2015).
Peaceful election campaigns require a contestant with unquestionable character who all parties have respect for.
This calls for the services of a politician and leader who has consistently demonstrated trust, integrity, humility and peace with other people.
What GBM’s statement has done is merely to give credibility to his knack for acts of violence.
In conclusion, common knowledge suggests that GBM’s wrong man for the claims of being non-violent.
