That the MMD in its current form cannot win an election is a well-known fact because it is a divided house.
It therefore does not help Dr Nevers Mumba the current MMD president to start unleashing missiles at former president Rupiah Banda, who I think can do a swell job for MMD if unity of purpose is promoted in the opposition party.
But from the look of things this is far from reality as Dr Mumba appears to be harbouring some kind of fears against RB who is an excellent mobilizer.
For me I think Dr Mumba should try hard to get RB on his side and see how the party will perform in 2016.
Indeed if he decides otherwise, then MMD might as well forget about next year. It is probably better off getting into treaties with other parties like the UPND.
I doubt it if RB has any plans of destroying the party which brought him to fame. MMD has serious problems of its own, mainly to do with the leadership of Dr Mumba which many feel is a big let-down. RB has been a republican president so why should he be jealous of Dr Mumba? This is not a fair remark. Dr Mumba should swallow his pride as a man of God and invite RB so that together they can strategize the future, especially the 2016 polls. Nothing else will do.
