FAZ probe still open, says ACC

THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has not closed the investigations into the alleged corrupt practices at Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), says public relations manager Timothy Moono.

Responding to a press query, Moono said the commission was continuing with its investigations into the allegations of corruption at Football House.

He however stated that they could not reveal how far they have gone with the investigations as it would threaten the investigations.

“I   wish   to   confirm   that   the   commission   is   continuing   with   its   investigations   into allegations of corrupt practices at the Football Association of Zambia. However, I cannot divulge further information at this stage as doing so would jeopardize the investigations,” Moono said.

Last month, former FAZ treasurer Kelvin Mutafu made revelations of alleged corrupt practices at FAZ which included the reproduction of Nike replica jerseys in China.

ACC last year began investigating FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya for allegedly receiving US$80,000 from Bin Hammam to raise Qatar’s chances of hosting the 2022 World Cup. Former Sports minister Kenneth Chipungu earlier challenged ACC to expedite the investigations and make conclusion.
