IT IS unfair to accuse President Edgar Lungu of neglecting Eastern Province when he has tried to bring development closer to the people in a speedy way, former MMD Eastern Province youth chairman Cheembe Daka has said.
Mr Daka said if President Lungu had been President for many years, Zambia could be a developed country by now.
He said the Head of State was trying his best to make Zambia a haven for every citizen and that Zambians should learn to appreciate.
“Those who are saying the President has neglected them, especially in Eastern Province, are not sincere because all the massive development we are seeing today were not there, and you can see the impact of the short period Mr Lungu has been in power.
‘‘If Mr Lungu was the leader in those days, Zambia wouldn’t be the same this time, because his efforts to develop Zambia are visible,” he said.
Mr Daka said most of the people in Eastern province were joining the ruling Patriotic Front because of the development projects that they were seeing.
He advised the people of Eastern Province and the country at large to support the President and accept his governance style of inclusiveness.
“There is hope that under the leadership of Mr Lungu the people of Zambia will benefit, and it is now up to the people of Zambia to give him support,” he said.
Mr Daka said there was rapid development in all parts of the country, and that only those without eyes could condemn the Government.
