ZAMTEL has given away the final Nonka Nonka promotion grand prize of a tipper truck worth K600,000 aimed at promoting a spirit of entrepreneurship amongst its subscribers.
The mobile subscriber has also given K10,000 cash each to five contestants as consolation prizes. The winner of the truck was 73-year-old Ms Grace Simuusa from Pemba in Southern Province.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, company chief executive officer Mupanga Mwanakatwe said Zamtel had been running the promotion for the past three months during which subscribers won cash prizes ranging from daily K1,000 to K10, 000.
Mr Mwanakatwe said the total value of the cash prizes given out during the course of the promotion was K360,000.
“The total value of the tipper truck we about to give away this morning is just under K600,000. We believe that this ultimate prize will bring about an instant and life-changing transformation to someone’s life.
“The idea of giving away a tipper truck as a grand prize for Nonka Nonka promotion was arrived at with the aim of inculcating a spirit of entrepreneurship amongst our subscribers.
‘‘We believe that the winner will have a sound platform on which to start up and grow a robust business,” he said.
Mr Mwanakatwe advised Ms Simuusa to step up to the challenge and start a business that would both transform her life and be sustainable in the long run. He said Zamtel would continue to come up with life-changing promotions in the future aimed at building capacity amongst its subscribers and enable them grow economically. He urged the runners-up not to lose hope and make the best out of the consolation prizes of K10,000 each. Ms Simuusa said she would use the tipper truck for quarrying or would rent it out to companies. She thanked Zamtel for the prize and encouraged others to continue participating in the company promotions.
Meanwhile, Zamtel has opened an outlet at the East Park Mall in Lusaka, making it the fourth in the country.
