This afternoon Chilenje’s Another Mike’s Pub N’ Grill hosts a special PJ Tribute concert that is planned to remember the late Brian Cheengwa in music and dance.
The show which will mainly feature local artistes that especially worked with the late singer is meant to also raise funds for the family through the sale of PJ’s T-Shirts and Caps as well as music CDs.
There are a number of artistes confirmed to make an appearance at the show that will drag through the night. These include B-Flow, Slap Dee, Leo Muntu,Aquila Babe, Xtra-Tall and DJ Tony the Rollercoaster. Others are Ben the Future who is keenly following in the brother’s footsteps. Organisers say the show is entirely meant to remember and appreciate the contributions the singer has made to the industry. It is also meant to give back to late PJ’s family through the sale of music CDs, caps or T-Shirts.
Fans are also encouraged to make donations in any form which will be given to the family.
Born Brian Cheengwa, PJ died last year on the 21ST December due to injuries sustained in a road accident. This month marks one year after his demise.
The singer was one of the country’s top-ranking male vocalists who helped in shaping the careers of many local artistes through his recognizable high-pitched voice.
At his peak, PJ was the most-sought after vocalist that collaborated with many artistes including his peers Slap Dee and B-Flow. His last album, ‘Somone’ was launched on Thursday but the singer left behind several other unreleased music some of which is yet to be released in the year 2016.
