Mwansabombwe MP upsets Lundas

By Nation Reporter

The Lunda Royal Establishment (LRE) has accused Mwansabombwe Member of Parliament Rodgers Mwewa of disrespecting Mwata Kazembe.

LRE spokesperson Peter Chashi  said it was unreasonable for Mr. Mwewa to draw the Mwata in inconceivable accusations.

He was reacting to Mr. Mwewa’s statement that the Mwata had sponsored people to contest as MPs in Mwansabombwe to unseat him.

Mr Mwewa vowed that he would never reconcile with Chief Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people, because the traditional leader had allegedly been fighting him since the 2011 general elections.

But Mr. Chashi refuted the accusations, saying it was not the Chief but the people who decided on whom to vote for.

“To the best of my sensitivity, all elections in the land are arranged by the Electoral Commission of Zambia according to the constitution, in fact all positions in the land are elective including that of the President.

“If President Edgar Lungu can be challenged by many aspiring Presidential candidates, what about the seat of the ‘Mr. Know it all for Mwansabombwe?” Mr. Chashi asked.

He said Mwata Kazembe never sent anyone to contest the parliamentary election , but that the constitution allowed everyone to participate.

“Some constituencies have more people contesting than Mwansabombwe, he better go back to the drawing board and see how many people are contesting Mambilima Constituency” he said.

Mr. Chashi stated that Mr. Mwewa should not brag that he would be re-adopted by the Patriotic Front (PF) in the forthcoming elections, as his chances were very slim.

He said President Lungu was a respectable and visionary person and would definitely choose people who shared the same vision as his to work with.

“His blood might be with the PF and President Lungu as he put it, but President Lungu is undisputedly under no obligation to inform Mr. Mwewa who he meets and at what time, because by mentioning his name Mr. Mwewa implied that he will be adopted,” he said.
