God answers prayer II Numbers 14:28

In today’s discussion, we shall continue with prayer as it is one of the most important activities of a believer in our Lord, Father God Almighty, the Most High, Creator of heaven and earth, what is seen and what is not seen, and in His Son, Christ Jesus, our Saviour and Messiah. We should try to concretize into the minds of doubting Thomas’, that truly our God answers prayer, and us believers should be at liberty to take advantage of such divine powers for the betterment of our lives, other people and as wells as our Nation, Zambia in particular.

Believers use prayer to reach God in heaven, transmit our desires, fears, requests, anxieties, appeals and our needs, including all that may cause discomfort in our lives, too many to itemize. This is all done in a manner of holiness. When this is done, then we faithfully sit back and wait for the answers from the seat of the Holiest, the Most High, God Almighty.

According to James 1-5, one important activity of a believer is to pray for other people, or children included. Other family members must always benefit from our prayers.

Some people may be doing very well in life, just because some people somewhere are always busy praying for them, even though they themselves may not be aware about the prayers taking place on their behalf.

We learn from the bible that Job, a man of God never ceased praying for his children, and burning offering for each one of them, for Job thought, “Perhaps my children have sinned and have cursed God in their hearts.”

This is proof that believers, especially parents, cannot only pray for their children, but also confess their sins on their behalf as Job did.

At one particular time, something amiss happened in our family. One of my brothers who was doing very well at school, decided to leave our parent’s home and live the life of a vagabond. He was looking for freedom of speech and space to do whatever he wanted to do, right or wrong, without interference from any person, not even his parents. This sad situation went on for more than four years.

During all this time, our parents were praying for our brother who had absconded from home. Perhaps his brothers and sisters had given up hope of him returning home to our parents. It only took one day of Gods divine power to change my brother.

That was the day which our vagabond brother went home to my parents and asked for food. A few days letter, he made a very startling statement to our parents, that he wanted to be a Pastor.

We were all on our heels as a family to try and support him in his new venture.

My brother is now a Pastor, had even the opportunity to preach in the United Kingdom. He is now married with three beautiful children. God’s time is the best time. Our Lord God Almighty does not delay to answer our prayers.

Remember always that his time works very well in every situation. In 1st Thessalonians 5:17, the Bible says “Pray without ceasing.” Prayer of faith is like a walking stick. Believers will faint without prayer. It is prayer that gives us the hope for salvation, through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What was most gratifying was that our parents died after our onetime vagabond brother had become a pastor. On the day of his graduation was really a day of jubilation. My parent’s faith in God paid off in their lifetime.

Believers are supposed to depend upon prayer as much as fish depends upon water. We can only live a godly life by prayer, just as much as fish can only survive in water.

We should pray and expect the best of answers, favorable for our faithful living from the seat of the Holiest, the Most High, Lord Father God of Israel, Almighty God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

We should be devoted in praying for others just as we pray for ourselves. In the book of 1st Samuel 12:23, the Bible says, “As for me, I will certainly not sin against the Lord by ending my prayers for you. And I will continue to teach you what is good and right.” Samuel’s words in this scripture indicate that his failure to pray for others is sin.

As believers, we are encouraged to pray for other fellow believers consistently, as it is also written in Ephesians 6 V 18 as follows: “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers every where.”

We may disagree with our fellow believers in one way or another, but that should never be the reason for ending prayers, for them. This must be the situation even for our children, spouse, family members and all others.

We should be devoted to making quick, brief prayers as our habitual response to every situation we meet throughout the day, and by making a great effort to let our daily living by itself be a prayer unto God.  As we daily live, all the negatives we meet on the way should not be blamed on God.

For it is sin to blame God for any kind of negative situation (Job 1 -22). All what we should do is to pray for God’s guidance no matter how bad the situation may present itself. We should pray for family members, so that they do not get cocooned in the evil clasp of the dragon.

In the book of Romans 1:9, the Bible says “God knows how I pray for you day and night I bring you and your needs in prayer to God whom I serve with all my heart by spreading the good news about His Son.”

These were the words of St. Paul to believers. According to St. Paul, believers can pray for the success and wellbeing of their fellow believers, this is because all people of the world have particular needs or felt needs which must be met, and by prayer this is possible.

In the book of Luke 6:37, it is written thus “Judge not and you shall not be judged, condemn not, and shall not be condemned, forgive and you shall be forgiven.”

For those who have sinned it is prayer, prayer and prayer for them and not condemnation, our God is faithful and he will therefore remain true to his promises of answering our prayer (Romans 3:3-4). There are people who are endowed with very high intelligence quotient (I.Q); instead, of using such abilities for the good of humanity, unfortunately these abilities of excellence are instead used for both human and property destruction. They leave havoc where their minds and actions have been put to wrong use.

Such people require a lot of prayer so that God Jehovah can change them as was the case with Saul before he was renamed Paul (Acts 9:1-12).

Climate indicators for Zambia in the 2015/2016farming season were initially very gloomy. Very little rain was expected in most parts of Zambia. Hunger was therefore looming for Zambian people.

Our men and women of God, called for a day of prayer on the 18th October, 2015 and prayed for rains. Rains started very late in January, 2016, when it was expected to start raining in November, 2015.

When it finally came, it rained cats and dogs. Now Zambia is talking of a heavy bumper harvest of around two million tons of maize. Glory be to God the Most High. All because of prayer.

Other people may advance their own reasons for the sudden change of the rain pattern, but for me as a believer, it is prayer and prayer.

Our men and women of God should continue to call upon the Zambian people for more national prayers, for prosperity, peace and a nation free from pestilences, to the benefit of the Zambia people.

As believers, we should understand how cardinal prayer is in our lives. May the Lord God Almighty bless us all.  Amen.
