The Patriotic Front (PF) says it is excited with the turnout of people at the rally addressed by party president Edgar Lungu at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Saturday.
Speaking to journalists in Chingola yesterday PF deputy spokesperson Frank Bwalya said it was a remarkable history that the PF attracted over 35,000 people at a single rally. Mr. Bwalya said contrary to some media reports that the stadium was empty, the turnout was remarkable.
“We are delighted at the number of people that attended our rally in Ndola, we broke the record in terms of people that have been attending our rallies on the Copperbelt since the party was formed,” he said. Mr Bwalya said this was a highest turnout the party had recorded at a single rally. He said the picture in the Post newspaper was taken as people where still trooping into the stadium.
“The Post newspaper is showing a photo when there were no people. We know that photo was taken as people were coming in. We want, on behalf of our president of Zambia Mr Edgar Chagwa Lungu who is also our party leader, to convey his heartfelt gratitude to the people of the Copperbelt for turning up in numbers for the rally,” Mr Bwalya said.
He said the people on the Copperbelt still had confidence in the PF agenda of developing the country.
