Musicians unveil ‘Artistes for Edgar’ group

Renowned musician 2wice and his colleagues have formed a group of artistes with a mission to support the candidature of Patriotic Front presidential candidate Edgar Chagwa Lungu in the forthcoming August 11 elections. The group called ‘Artistes for Edgar’ comes out of a collective agreement by the members to help explain the need to maintain and retain the PF leadership during the August 11 elections.

Speaking during the unveiling of the group and PF promotional songs in Lusaka on Tuesday, group spokesperson and musician Joseph Kankinda aka Zeka said it is in their right as musicians to help explain the need to maintain the PF leadership owing to the developmental programmes the nation has witnessed.

“Artistes for Edgar group is born out of our own conviction as musicians and members of wanting to maintain the leadership of our Republican President Edgar Chagwa Lungu. This is because we have seen no major reason for people to call for change apart from those wanting to taste political power. Changing government now will be costly and as a group we will help to explain to the masses through our various talents and avenues on the need to maintain the PF leadership,” Zeka said.

And the group which is mainly accessible on social media has released a CD with a collection of songs explaining its cause. They have also unveiled a collection of paintings with images of president Lungu and his running mate Inonge Wina which are meant to support the party’s campaign.
