ELECTORAL Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has raised K4, 890,000 following the successful filing of nominations from 652 candidates for the 2016 parliamentary elections in all the 10 provinces of Zambia.
This is according the ECZ nomination of parliamentary candidates list published in the Daily Nation yesterday.
The ECZ had pegged the nomination fees for parliamentary candidates at K7,500 and a calculation of 652 that filed brought the total amount to K4,890,000.
Eastern Province recorded 92 candidates aspiring for the parliamentary seats in 19 constituencies, ECZ raised a total of K690, 000.
The commission also raised K652, 500 from the Copperbelt Province where 87 aspiring candidates filed in 21 constituencies.
Western Province with 77 candidates from 19 constituencies, empowered ECZ with K577, 500.
Lusaka and Luapula provinces both had 66 aspiring candidates each from 14 and 15 constituencies respectively, raising K495, 000 each.
Others were Southern Province with 65 candidates from 18 constituencies where ECZ raised K487, 500, while Central Province with 60 candidates from seven constituencies the ECZ raised K450, 000 and K375, 000 from Northern Province with 50 aspiring candidates from 13 constituencies.
ECZ raised K337, 500 from Muchinga Province which had 45 aspiring candidates from 10 constituencies while K330, 000 was raised from North Western province which had 44 aspiring candidates from five constituencies.
