Nawakwi angers UPND

…accuses her of soliciting for a job from President Lungu

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) is enraged that Edith Nawakwi called on Zambians not to vote for Hakainde Hichilema and has accused the FDD president of having mastered the art of treachery and negotiating her way into the Patriotic Front (PF) after the general elections next month.

The UPND has branded Ms Nawakwi a political opportunist whose hopes of meaningfully competing in the coming elections had been dashed, hence her manoeuvres to allegedly negotiate for a ministerial job in President Edgar Lungu’s government.

UPND presidential spokesperson Edward Mumbi said accusations that Mr Hichilema was too emotions to be the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces were totally misplaced and coming from a politician whose understanding of how State affairs were managed was less than intelligent.

Mr Mumbi said Ms Nawakwi should just concentrate in soliciting for a job from President Lungu instead of attacking, slandering and maligning Mr Hichilema, who is the UPND presidential candidate.

He said the UPND was aware that Ms Nawakwi was allegedly buying space in the PF government and had been employed to propagate a malicious propaganda campaign against Mr Hichilema, his running mate Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba in return for a ministerial job.
