POWER Dynamos hit third place on the Super League table after beating ‘Brave” Nchanga Rangers 2-0 in a Week 19 match played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka yesterday.

The victory pushed Kitwe giants to 34 points on third spot, dislodging the League champions Zesco United with 33 points.  Power is a point behind second placed Nkana who recorded a barren draw against Green Eagles.

Patson Daka put up an impressive performance scoring his second goal this season on the 34th minute to push Power in the lead.

Daka, Larry Bwalya and Kennedy Mudenda failed to convert the several chances in first half of play shooting wide at the net. In second half, Power looked revitalized scoring the second goal two minutes after the break when Kennedy Mudenda strike from Bwalya’s cross sent Rangers’ goalkeeper Joel Kambili to the wrong direction.

Rangers’ reorganized with 15 minutes of play, but could not upset the result as Power Dynamos stayed firm.

At Independence Stadium in Choma, favorites Nkana were given a surprise welcome after Green Eagles held them to a goalless draw. Walter Bwalya and Simon Bwalya failed to penetrate the strong defence force men thereby causing frustration. At Shinde Stadium, Mighty Mufulira Wanderers were denied the three points they badly needed when Nkwazi equalized a minute before the final whistle.

Toanga Bwembya could have opened the scores in the ninth minute when his free kick missed the post by a centimetre. Wanderers continued to dominate the game with Eric Chibuye’s cracker saved by Nkwazi goal keeper in the 46th minute. Rahim Osumanu broke the deadlock on the 69th minute converting a Chibuye’s sublime pass.

But the victory was spoiled in added time when Nkwazi hit man Steward Chikandiwa headed in a free kick.

Elsewhere, Nakambala beat Forest Rangers 1-0 thanks to a Felix Bwalya strike in the 13th minute.
