Don’t be tribal, Moono warns S/P

FORMER United Party for National Development (UPND) chairperson for security Captain Cosmas Moono has appealed to the people of Southern Province not to vote for Hakainde Hichilema because he was Tonga by tribe but vote for President Edgar Lungu because he has delivered what the Patriotic Front promised.

Capt. Moon said President Lungu had significantly showed his commitment to deliver to expectations of the majority of Zambians within one year of being in office.

And Capt. Moono has warned that farmers in Chilanga would regret should they vote for the UPND candidate Keith Mukata because has no agricultural knowledge.

In an interview yesterday, Capt. Moono pleaded with Zambians not to vote for any opposition political party in the general elections because President Lungu had so far showed that he loved Zambians despite their diverse ethnic groupings through the unselected delivery of infrastructure development.

He said President Lungu has not neglected development in any part of the country including in areas where they did not vote for him.

“In the one year that he has been in office, President Lungu has delivered development projects and he needs to continue for another five years.

“If you look at Lusaka and many other towns, the appearance has changed because of beautiful roads which the Patriotic Front (PF) has built in the past few years. They have done clinics and schools in all the districts, including the newly created ones,” he said.

Capt. Moono gave as an example the multi-million dollar Mongu-Kalabo road which had been a nightmare in the past for the people of Western Province.

He called on Zambians to be proud of such projects which President Lungu and the Patriotic Front (PF) government had completed so far.

On Chilanga constituency where he is the aspiring candidate on the PF ticket, Capt. Moono said being a farming area it needed a representative who had a track record of agriculture development.

Capt. Moono said he regretted having been in the opposition for so long, adding that it was a sheer waste of time to have spent most of his time in the opposition.

He said President Lungu was humble and a team player who was also result-oriented.

He said having served as Member of Parliament for Chilanga constituency from 2001 to 2006 he had the best slogan of the Patriotic Front (PF) of pointing at what he had done.

Capt. Moono challenged voters to compare the works that he and Keith Mukata had done for the people of Chilanga constituency.

“We want to bring a district hospital because Chilanga was declared a district. We don’t want our patients to be referred to Kafue or other areas for treatment when we can have our own district hospital,” Capt. Moono said.
