Govt wins kudos for taking development to Manyinga district

RESIDENTS of Manyinga district in North Western province have praised the Patriotic Front (PF) government for taking development to their area.

Manyinga was part of Kabompo district until 2012 when it was declared a district by President Micheal Sata.

Some residents talked to told the Daily Nation that the area had experienced massive development in all the sectors.

They said since the coming into power of the PF government, the area had received its share of the national cake. Noah Mbingila, a 56 years old businessman said the area was a hive of economic activities owing to the infrastructure development that had been undertaken by government in the last five years.

Mr Mbingila cited the established of wood processing plant by a Chinese company which has provided employment to the locals as some of the economic activities taking place in the area.

“Not only that, for the first time in the history of this area we have a filling station just at a door step. Previously we used buy from the black market which was not safe,” he said.

And Sarah Kakisa a peasant farmer commended government for working on feeder roads in the district which she said was helping farmers take their produce to the market without challenges.

“Not only have roads been worked on, but we are also receiving inputs on time. We are very happy,” she said.

She also commended government for starting the buying of maize through the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) on time stating that the move would help farmers plan on time for the next farming season.

And 28 year old youth Jonathan Mukimba thanked government for rolling out infrastructure development in the area citing the construction of the district administration block, the both low cost and high cost staff houses for civil servants among others.

“Most youths have been employed during the construction stage of these structures, and for that we say thank you to the PF government.
