Ex-Ghana coach misses interviews

INTERVIEWS for the Chipolopolo coaching job failed to take off yesterday at Football House in Lusaka after the candidate requested for the rescheduling of the date due to unforeseen circumstances.

The interview, which was set for 10:00 hours, could not be held after the agent of the unnamed expatriate coach called Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to have the meeting deferred to another date.

FAZ general secretary Ponga Liwewe in an interview said the agent called requesting for the rescheduling of the interview because the shortlisted coach could not make it yesterday.

“We are not having any interviews today as planned because the candidate cannot make it. We received a phone call from his agent asking for the postponement of the interview,” Liwewe said.

He however said FAZ could not reschedule the interview because the candidate was given enough time to prepare. “We are not having interviews and there is no way we are going to reschedule,” he said. Meanwhile, sources close to FAZ said former Ghana national team coach Goran Stevanovic was scheduled to under-go interviews yesterday.

The source could not however state the reasons why Stevanovic could not attend the interviews.

Stevanovic, 49, coached Ghana from January 2011 to March 2012 and he is currently coaching a Greek football league  club Agrotikos Asteras.

FAZ has so far interviewed Frenchman Sebastien Dasebre, South African Gordan Igesund and Savoy Raoul from Switzerland.
