PF urges youths to remain calm

YOUTHS have been advised to remain calm and continue to maintain peace even after election results are announced, says  Patriotic Front Lusaka youth provincial chairman Kennedy Kamba.

Mr Kamba said he has received reports that some UPND cadres were harassing people in Lusaka and has since called on the youths to remain calm and wait for the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) to announce the final results.  Mr Kamba said he was impressed with the a manner youths have conducted themselves and also the vigilance of police officers in the province. He said he had no doubt of the PF scooping the presidency as the party had done all the ground work, and that the turnout was encouraging  as it was important for the strengthening of the country’s democracy.

Mr Kamba said acts of violence would not bring development in the country, saying peace should be the order of the day.

He said youths and Zambian people should continue with the same spirit of peace and unity even after the election result announcements and continue upholding the slogan of One Zambia, One Nation.

Mr Kamba said most seats have been won by the PF which was a good sign of democracy and good governance, adding that people still needed the party to continue with development across the country.

“It is sad that some political players have already declared themselves victors even before election results are announced,” he said.
