GOD will vindicate Lungu in all these manoeuvres by the opposition to discredit his election because he has always sought divine intervention when things are hard and God has heard him, the Evangelical Youth Alliance (EYA) has said.
And EYA has said that it would continue praying for President Lungu until he was inaugurated as a duly elected leader of the country after the legal battles were over because it was convinced that the will of the people prevailed over the just-ended election and that allegations that there was electoral malpractice were peddled by enemies of development.
EYA executive director Moses Lungu told the Daily Nation yesterday that the fact that President Lungu has always acknowledged the power of God in his previous tenure in office meant that he was destined for victory in this legal battle that has been instituted by the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND).
Rev. Lungu said the alliance was confident that President Lungu’s election would stand even after the court’s decision because he had surrendered his life to the will of God and that the same way God intervened to challenges that faced the country such as the predicted dry spell during the last rain season, God would deliver him from the hands of the enemy who were allegedly holding the leadership of the country at ransom.
He said no matter what the opposition could do, they would never rule the country unless God himself decided so, adding that those who thought they could usurp power by their own mighty were wasting time because God’s hand was leading Zambia.
He said President Lungu had shown respect for the law and that had lived according to the rule of law by allowing himself to be tried by the very institutions he put in place to deliver justice to the Zambians, adding that the fact that he had subjected himself to institutions such as the Constitution Court was a clear testimony that he was not a dictator that others were labeling him to be because he would have found his way out of the web the UPND were forcing himself by directing such institutions to act to his advantage.
“In all his tenure of office, President Lungu had acknowledged his inadequacies and has depended on God for strength in order to lead the country according to God’s will and so, his dedication to God would deliver him from those who were power hungry because no matter what they would do, he was still going to lead this country.
“As a God-fearing person, he has allowed himself to be tried by the same institutions he has put in place to deliver judgment to the Zambians and this is testimony that he is not a dictator that other people are accusing him to be because he would have abused his authority,” Rev. Lungu said.
And Rev. Lungu said his alliance was convinced that the will of the people prevailed over the just-ended election and that allegations that there was electoral malpractice were peddled by enemies of development.
He said his organisation would continue praying for President Lungu until the court case was disposed of.
