Lungu re-election will revamp economy – chief


THE re-election of President Edgar Lungu affords him the opportunity to accelerate economic, social and environmental development in the country, says Chief Mukupa Katandula XII of Kaputa district in Northern Province.

Speaking through his spokesperson Munshimbwe Chitalu, Chief Mukupa said the re-election of President Lungu had confirmed the Zambian people’s endorsement of his wise leadership.

“Mr Lungu’s leadership is critical for national unity, peace and sustainable development as exemplified by countrywide development projects he has embarked on,” he said.

The chief singled out the construction of Nchelenge-Kaputa road to bituminous standards, construction of chief’s palaces and the development of natural resource based tourism, among other things.

He said the Government had embarked on fisheries and agriculture as important development programmes in the area, which the people of the chiefdom
benefitted from.
