Mwandi goes  agog with President Lungu’s inauguration


PEOPLE of Mwandi district in Western Province yesterday took to the streets to peacefully celebrate the inauguration of President Edgar Lungu and his running mate and Vice President Inonge Wina.

A team led by losing Mwandi constituency PF council chairperson Ms Josephine  Sipalo invited all the opposition parties who participated in the event, saying that symbolized the efforts made by President Lungu to call for peace and unity.

Ms Sipalo told the Daily Nation that the PF decided to celebrate by having a march-past to thank God for giving the Zambians a leader who was a beacon of peace and unity.

“This march past has been organized to celebrate with our members who have managed to travel to Lusaka to join hands and also to thank God for giving us a leader who is able to unite this country,” she said.

Ms Sipalo said the people of Mwandi would continue to give support to the PF and that they would make sure those who did not believe in the party realized massive development they also were enjoying.

She said hundreds of people joined in the event while others turned up to watch the proceedings.

“It is peace that we want in Zambia and nothing else, and this is the only way we can realize development, even here in Mwandi we have  benefitted from the national cake,” she said.

Ms Sipalo explained that Mwandi was a  new district that had received tangible development and it was for that reason that President Lungu deserved to be thanked.

She said President Lungu had embraced all the people of Zambia regardless to their political affiliation, for the sake of peace of unity and peace in Zambia.
