First Quantum Minerals (FQM) country manager General Kingsley Chinkuli’s wife Ann was put to rest on Thursday at Litete, Chibombo, Central Province.
A family spokesperson said Ms Chinkuli, 69, died on Sunday in South Africa where she was flown for medical treatment.
In a moving tribute to his wife, Gen Chinkuli said: “My dear Ann, I will cherish our 47 years of wedded life as being extremely happy and know that you were looking forward to our 50th anniversary.”
The tribute was read for him by General Benjamin Mibenge at a funeral service held at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross on Wednesday evening.
The service was attended by First Republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda, former Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda, former Vice Republican Presidents General Godfrey Miyanda and Enoch Kavindele, respectively, several senior serving and retired army officers and other dignitaries.
