NKANA has qualified to the Barclays Cup semi-finals after beating Division One side Kabwe Soccer Youth Academy (KYSA} 3-1 in a quarter-final double header at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
Despite being reduced to ten men, Nkana could not allow an embarrassment from a Division One side.
The Kitwe side suffered a setback in the 41st minute when Walter Bwalya was handed a second yellow card by referee Evans Mulenga following a foul on Martin Solochi.
In second half, KYSA took the lead in the 52nd minute from the penalty spot converted by Daniel Chama after Nicodemus Kabungo was brought down from inside the box by Nkana defender Given Sinyangwe.
Three minutes later, Nkana equalized through Bornwell Mwape from a pass by substitute Jacob Ngulube.
Nkana continued to dominate the match and took the lead in the 73rd minute when Mwape shot from inside the box.
The second goal literally opened up the KYSA defence and Nkana cemented their victory in the 89th minute through Austin Muwowo.
In the other double header, Zanaco humbled Kabwe Warriors 3-0 to reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
Zanaco were unstoppable from the start and took the lead in the fourth minute through Saith Sakala.
Isaac Chansa scored the second for Zanaco in the 47th minute and substitute Attram Kwame added the third in the 80th minute.
Zanaco and Nkana will have to await for the winners between Power vs Buffalos and Zesco vs Konkola Blades in the other quarterfinal fixture respectievely.
Power and Buffaloes clash today at Nkoloma Stadium.
