Big match to decide Fathy’s fate

A WIN for Kabwe Warriors maybe enough to secure coach Mohammed Fathy his job when the beleaguered former soccer giants host Nkwazi at Godfrey Chitalu Stadium at home in a FAZ/MTN Week 29 Super League match today. The Kabwe Warriors technical bench was given a four-match ultimatum or risk being fired by the club management. Warriors have so far lost two games – 1-0 to Red Arrows and 3-1 to Forest Rangers  but managed to record a 1-0 win against Green Eagles last week. However, Nkwazi have proved to be a tough opponent to Warriors, having thrashed the railwaymen 4-1 in the Week 12 fixture in May. Warriors are on seventh position on the table with 39 points from 28 games played – 10 wins, nine draws and nine losses. Nkwazi has 34 points in 10th  place with a record of 10 wins, 13 draws and eight losses. Coach Albert Mpande is confident Nkwazi will complete a double on Warriors. Mpande however said the team was not going to underrate the Kabwe outfit who were seeking revenge for the 4-1 humiliation. “It is going to be a tough match. I have no doubt that Warriors want to avenge the 4-1 beating they suffered in May. But my boys are ready for the challenge and will fight for a win,” he said. Mpande will look to Steward Chikandiwa, Mwapiya Kasongo and Enmmanuel Kasonde to get the needed goals for Nkwazi.
