POWER Dynamos were in no nonsense mood yesterday thrashing Nakambala Leopards 5-1 in the MTN-FAZ Super League Week 31 match played at Arthur Davis Stadium in Kitwe. The Kitwe side opened the scores in the second minute through a penalty converted by inform Kelvin Mubanga. Keegan Bwalya equalised in the 11th minute with a beautiful free kick. But Power picked up speed and controlled the midfield piling pressure on the Nakambala defence. Patson Daka struck a brace in the 13th and 36th minute to make it 3-1 for Power before the break. In second half, Nakambala gave Power a bit of pressure but produced blunt shots. Substitute Jimmy Ndhlovu scored the fourth goal for Power in the 79th minute before Mubanga completed a brace. Nakambala technical bench looked disappointed with the 5-1 loss while the players returned to the dressing room with gloomy faces. The victory pushed Power to 56 points but maintained the third spot. They are four points behind second placed Nkana who host Napsa Stars this afternoon. At Independence Stadium in Lusaka, in a lunch kick off, Lusaka Tigers hopes of survival dwindled further after they lost 1-2 to Zambia National Service men Green Eagles. Tigers took the lead in the 27th minute when Ngole Ilunga beat Eagles goalkeeper Kenneth Mwaanga whose attempt to dribble the ball was unsuccessful. The host could have doubled the scores before the break but Mwaanga denied Malela Sapu and Emmanuel Kabasa the much needed goals. Eagles equalised in the 57th minute when Andrew Phiri headed in a Spencer Sautu corner kick. And Greenwell Witika scored the winning goal for Eagles. In the other match at Independence Stadium, Green Buffaloes’ Sebastian Mwansa denied Zesco United the three points when he levelled the score in the 90th minute. Zesco took the lead in the second minute through Mwape Mwelwa. Zesco’s target of retaining the title seemed to be diminishing having lost 1-0 to Nkwazi last Wednesday. They are 14 points behind leaders Zanaco. At Nchanga Stadium in Chingola, visitors Nkwazi beat Nchanga Rangers 2-1 thanks to goals from Justin Shonga and Mwila Kabwe while Simon Nkhata scored the consolation. Mufulira Wanderers and Lumwana Radiants settled for a barren draw at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira. In today’s fixture, Lusaka Dynamos host Red Arrows while Zanaco face tricky Forest Rangers and Nkana clash with Napsa Stars.
