Local hip hop artiste Mwila Musonda aka SlapDee last week on Monday graced an HIV/AIDS awareness event at Zeco Grounds in George Compound organized by SAfAIDS, a non-governmental organization actively involved in youth health advocacy programmes. The gathering attracted a number of young people which are mostly working with the organization under its specific aim of empowering them with knowledge on various health issues specifically HIV/AIDS. For this particular reason SlapDee was the ideal artiste to grace the event as his influence on young people always pays off. The event included music and dance performances which were neatly tied to health education. There was also free counseling and HIV testing which helped a number of young people make informed decisions about their status. Before SlapDee came on stage, the audience was given a great deal of infotainment which laid a good foundation for the hip hop guru to build on. He stormed the stage with energy and performed most of his popular hits such as ‘Nomba Ninshi,’ ‘Chigwile,’ ‘Kuichaila’ plus more all to the excitement of the cheering audience which was later engaged in a rap battle anchored by SlapDee himself. This saw a few lucky skilled young people win a chance to audition at the XYZ forthcoming auditions for singers, rappers and dancers. SlapDee concluded his performance with motivational tips and education on health issues. Organisers praised the rapper for his interactive levels and inspiration to the youth. They plan to hold another event with him in December. The show was musically powered by Andre Entertainments.
