Mwinilunga residents advised to stop politicking

SENIOR Chief Kanongesha of the Lunda speaking people in Mwinilunga district of North Western Province has advised people in the area to desist from politicizing Government initiated development projects. The traditional leader said Government had shown commitment to opening up the district to development as evidenced by massive development projects being implemented in the area.  He cited the rehabilitation of the Mwinilunga-Jimbe border road, the connection of the district to the national electricity grid and the construction of a district hospital among some of the projects being carried out by the PF government. “Time for politics is over, let us concentrate on development and support what the Government is implementing in the district,” the chief said. The traditional leader was speaking in Mwinilunga during a community sensitization meeting on the importance of the construction of the district hospital project in Kawiku area held at the weekend. Chief Kanongesha said there was need for people in the district to appreciate and support Government’s efforts of developing the area, adding that politicking was detrimental to development. He has since commended President Edgar Lungu for his commitment to taking development to all parts of Zambia especially rural areas. “Let me also take this opportunity to thank His Excellency President Edgar Chagwa Lungu and his Government for showing commitment in developing not only Mwinilunga district but the entire Zambia,” he said. Speaking at the same meeting, council chairman Allan Kanyemba called for unity and co-existence among the people in the area regardless of political affiliation. Mr Kanyemba said people in the area should stop politicking and start working together if Government development projects were to be implemented successfully and develop the district. “Let us put our political differences aside and focus on how we are going to tap into Government’s plans so that our area can be developed,” he said.
