TOYOTA Zambia has donated 120 blankets valued at K19, 800 to Solwezi General Hospital as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.
Making the donation, Toyota Zambia general manager Gilbert Mfuya reaffirmed to the management of Solwezi General Hospital the company’s commitment to programmes aimed at supporting health care in society.
Mr Mfuya said the company made the donation in response to its corporate social responsibility mandate to improve the quality of life for communities that support their line of work.
“The blankets shall benefit the patients that come to Solwezi General Hospital who qualify to be the authentic beneficiaries of the donation,” he said.
Mr Mfuya disclosed that Toyota Zambia Limited would soon establish a branch in Solwezi to provide its services to North-Western Province.
Toyota Zambia is the official distributor of Toyota vehicles and Hino trucks in Zambia with a branch network in Lusaka, Copperbelt and Southern provinces.
Receiving the donation, Solwezi General Hospital medical superintendent Kayula Chansa welcomed the stance taken by Toyota Zambia.
“We are honoured to receive the donation,” said Dr Chansa, adding that it would make a difference in all the wards of the hospital which had a 300-bed capacity with a daily admission of 50 patients.
The hospital management invited Toyota Zambia employees to join the Solwezi General Hospital medical scheme at a subsidized rate once the company opened a branch in the town.
